A close-to-nature day-trip on easy roads and historical places

Bring your friends or family on a beautiful bicycle trip with sparkling lakes, green forests, historical places and mansions. Along the way you will find traditional Swedish fika, good food and several bathing sites in the three lakes that you pass by.

This one-day trip starts and end by the lake Åsunden in Ulricehamn and features easy-to-ride-on roads that are car-free for the most part.

More about the trip:

The trip is 38 km and 28 km is on car-free bike path. It consists of four stages:

Ulricehamn – Vegby
(14 km)

The path goes south along the lake Åsunden and despite its straight path along the old railway embankment, there is a lot of beautiful and interesting sites along the way. When arriving in Vegby you will find the cafe Sjöparken by the lake Sämsjön, where they serve home-made ice cream and waffles. You can also find a bathing site, a playground and mini golf.

Vegby – Fästered – Åsundsholm (4 km)

At the stright of Fästered, the lake Åsunden becomes Yttre Åsunden and here you will turn towards Åsundsholm. It is a mansion turned restaurant and lies beautifully in the open cultural landscape mixed with the new golf course. The restaurant will serve you your lunch.

Åsundsholm – Sjöred – Finnekumla – Vegby (6 km)

This stage, that will take you back to Vegby, goes on winding gravel roads with low traffic. Through varied landscapes you will pass forests, farms and open fields.

Vegby – Ulricehamn
(14 km)

The last stage takes you back to Ulricehamn again. If you want something new on your way back, you can take a small detour to Hemma på Källebacka. It is a cozy cafe and shop in a countryside setting. They are passionate about recycling and reuse, yarn, and interior design.
